She married JACOB ELI WOLF August 03, 1949 in Ravenna, Ohio, son of JACOB WOLF and LIDA RHINEHART. He was born March 21, 1907 in Ravenna, Ohio, and died September 04, 1990 in Ravenna, Ohio.

Notes for ESTHER MAY SWENNINGSON:
Esther Wolf continued to live at 322 Franklin St. Ravenna, Ohio after her husband, Jake, passed away in Sept. 1990. She lived there until December, 2000 when she was placed in Long Meadow Nursing Home in Ravenna at the age of 94. The family home was sold and vacated on April 26, 2001 after being in the Wolf Family for approximately 95 years. Four Generations of Wolf's had resided in the house throughout the 20th Century. Esther passed away peacefully at the Nursing Home in Nov. 2001 at the grand age of 95. (Kevin Langan- November, 2001)

Notes for JACOB ELI WOLF:
Jacob Eli Wolf was born in the family house at 322 Franklin St. in Ravenna, and grew up in Ravenna graduating from Ravenna High School in 1927. He worked briefly for his father at a junkyard his father owned in Ravenna, marrying his first wife, Helen Miller in 1932, and living briefly in Ravenna. They moved to Los Angeles, Calif. about 1936, during the so-called dust-bowl, post-depression years when many people migrated to California in search of better jobs (depicted in the movie "The Grapes of Wrath" starring Henry Fonda).
Jake found a job in Los Angeles working for Railway Express. His first three children, John, Marie, and Gerald were raised in Los Angeles in the late 30's and early 40's. He worked for the railroad until 1945, when he then was forced to return to Ravenna, Ohio to help run his father's junkyard business, due to his father's faltering health. His wife, Helen, chose not to return to Ohio with him, and within a short time they were formally divorced, with his children remaining in California to be raised by their mother.
Jake married his second wife, Esther Swenningson, in 1949, and continued running his father's junkyard after the death of his father in 1949. His daughter, Sally, was born in 1952. He later sold the junkyard business, and worked maintence in a tool factory, before retiring completely. He served as an officer of Ravenna's Civil Defense during the early Cold War years, and was a member of the Ravenna Lions and Moose Clubs.
He and his second wife Esther purchased a summer cottage up on Bob's Lake, Canada in 1949, which they went to just about every summer through 1989, inviting up many of their friends and relatives throughout his remaining years. He passed the cottage on to his daughter Sally, and son-in-law in 1985 to run, which they still do to this day. Jake suffered a debilitating heart attack and stroke in 1988, endured a successful heart by-pass operation that year at the age of 81, and passed away in 1990. (Compiled- Aug. 2000)

Sally grew up in Ravenna, Ohio, attending Ravenna High School. She then attended Kent State University receiving a B.M. in Voice in 1975. She also attended The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, receiving an Artists Diploma in 1977. She attended Indiana University as a special graduate student from 1977-1981, where she continued studies with the renowned soprano Margaret Harshaw, which she began at Curtis. It was at Indiana that she also met her husband, Kevin Langan. She has pursued a professional operatic singing career since 1981. Her signature role of The Queen of the Night in Mozart's THE MAGIC FLUTE has been heard in most of the major opera house of the world including The Metropolitan Opera in New York, The Royal Opera (Covent Garden) in London, The Paris Chatalet Opera, The Deutsche Oper in Berlin, The Bayerische Oper in Munich, The Staatsoper in Vienna, The Salzburg Festival, La Fenice in Venice, Grand Theatre in Geneva, The Monte Carlo Opera, The San Francisco Opera, The Canadian Opera in Toronto, and many other companies in both North America and Europe. She sang the role from 1981-1998 in 192 career performances. She also has sung many other roles with various companies as well, including a spectacular debut in 1999 at Carnegie Hall in New York as the leading soprano in Verdi's opera I MASNADIERI. She was the only child of Jacob Wolf and Esther Swenningson, being born when her mother was 46 years of age. She also has a summer cottage at Bob's Lake, Ontario, Canada, given to her as a gift and passed down from her parents, which she and her husband go to as often as possible during the summer months. Many of their friends come up to visit them there often."

" I was born in New York City at St. Vincent's Hospital in Greenwich Village. During my early years we lived in Syracuse, N.Y. (1955-56), Hackensack, NJ (1956-58), Fair Lawn, NJ (1958-59), Tyler Texas (1959-63), and Middletown, NJ (1964-1973). I graduated from Middletown High School in 1973.
I attended New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Mass. and Indiana University, receiving a B.M. (1977) and M.M. (1980) in Voice both with High Distinction. I met my wife, Sally, at Indiana in 1977, where we studied with the same voice teacher. I went on to have a career in classical music as a opera singer appearing with most of the major opera companies in North America, including the Metropolitan Opera (debut in 1990), San Francisco Opera, The Lyric Opera of Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Fe, Denver, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Houston, Austin, Dallas, Omaha, St. Louis, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington D.C., and Miami, as well as a number of opera companies in Europe, including Amsterdam, Antwerp, Lyon, and Geneva. My musical tastes are not just limited to classical. I am also a fanatical fan of The Beatles. Have been since 1964, when I saw them on the Ed Sullivan Show. I have collected their memorabilia now for a number of years.
Sally and I also enjoy a summer cottage in Bob's Lake, Ontario, Canada (a gift from Sally's parents) where we spend as much free time in the warm months of the year as we can. We often have friends up to visit there."

According to his baby sister, Thelma, Arthur is the adventursome soul in the family. According to Arthur, he ventured off during the Depression Years with a buddy traveling by rail (not always in a passenger car!) throughout the southeastern US and eventually enlisting in the military.
After marrying Mel, he settled his family in the southern California area and then eventually the Portland, Oregon area in search of a longer season to pursue his job as a painter.

Patricia Swenningson-West and her husband, Donald, own an orchard in Perry, Ohio that has been in Don's family. They grow a variety of fruits and vegetables every season that are sold at their own fruit stand as well as distributed around the northeastern Ohio area. They "winter" in Florida during the off season.
