Hi there! My name is John Stuart Lawlor. I am the current O'Leathlobhair Clan Chieftain Welcome to my website, which is divided into sections about my family, my family tree, various photographs, information about the O'Leathlobhair Clan, and various links of interest.
Here is a brief history of my family. I was born in Halifax, Yorkshire, England, on May 5th, 1946. I married my wife Sheila (nee Johnson) in Halifax, on January 17th 1970, at St Malachy's RC Church, Ovenden, Halifax, Yorkshire, England. We have two children, Martin and Marianne. My father, John Lawlor, was born in Fermoy, County Cork, Ireland in 1914 were he died in 1981. He married my mother, (Mary (nee Brown), who was born in 1922, in Halifax), in 1945. My grandfather, John Lawlor (Lalor), (also known as Kearney, his mothers maiden name), an ex soldier born 1875, in Goresbridge/Paulstown, C. Kilkenny, died in Fermoy 1937. He married Alice (nee Scully), born 1895, in Clondulane, near Fermoy, in 1912 at St. Patrick's Church, Fermoy. Alice died in 1964, in Sunderland, C. Durham, England, Both worked and/or lived in the workhouse in Fermoy which later became St. Patrick's Hospital. Her parents where Dan Scully, b.1840 and Ellen (nee Hanlon). John Lawlor's father, John Lalor and mother Catherine (nee Kearney), married in 1865, lived in Goresbridge/Paulstown, C. Kilkenny, Ireland, at the time of the wedding, but could have died or moved before 1901 because there are no entries for them on the 1901 or 1911 census returns for that area. My mothers father, Thomas Brown, from Halifax, married Clara (nee Murgatroyd), born in Keighley, Yorkshire. His father was called James Brown and married Mary from Bradford. I am still searching.........
