2. JOHN³ LAWSHE (ABRAHAM( VAN LAASCHET)², JOHANNES JACOB¹ VAN LAASCHET) was born December 14, 1754 in Amwell, Hunterdon Cty.,New Jersey, and died February 08, 1832 in Lewisburg, Union Cty., Pennsylvania. He married ELEANORE CHAMBERLIN, daughter of COL. CHAMBERLAIN and ELIZABETH TINBROOK.

Excerpts from, "Centennial History of Lewisburg", by I.H.Mauser,1984-1986 Vol.VIII, the publication of Union County Historical Society, Union County Pennsylvania:
"...In 1812 the borough of Lewisburg was incorporated, by an act passed on the 31st of March incorporating the directors of streets,lanes and alleys. TH=he first directors were elected at the house of Andrew Billmeyer on the 17th of October of this year. They were Henry Spyker, John Martin, JOHN LAWSHE,John Gordon and William McQuahe. On the 23rd of the same month the board was organized with JOHN LAWSHE, president, and Henry Spyker secretary...
Lewisburg in 1813 contained about 50 families, and a population of probably 250...the town was well supplied with hotels...JOHN LAWSHE kept the Black Horse...the Black Horse Tavern, located at 201 Market Street,was the site of town elections after its incorporation in 1822...today it is one of Lewisburg's most elegent Queen Anne buildings...titles to some of the lots given by Peter Borger and Rev. J. Charles Hilburn became a matter of dispute...several attempts to gain possession of many of the lots were legally defeated between 1814 and 1832..There was one more attempt made to obtain possession of many of the lots.This was in 1841 when George W. West brought an ejection for 100 lots against JOHN B. LAWSHE(son of JOHN LAWSHE) and Charles Beyer, neither of whom were in possession of any lots and so the writ was set aside for informality and has not been renewed since..."
