Jacob Hatfield, my third great-grandfather, was born to Abraham Marsh and Constantine (Jones) Hatfield on 6 February 1799 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, and died on 5 August 1884 in Yarmouth. He married Margaret Kelley on 6 September 1821 in Yarmouth, and they had eleven children; seven of these children were well-known sea captains. Jacob was a sea captain himself and also served as a statesman.
