OSEPH MILLER:
In 1929 Harry Miller, his wife Helen (Wolfe), and sons, Michael, Harry, and Joseph immigrated to Canada.

First lived on a farm seven miles north of Estevan. Fourth son Anthony was born here on December 26, about 1931.

In 1936 Harry Jr., and Joe decided to farm on their own. They rented a farm in the Benson area (was the Walter Brener farm).

In 1940 Joe married Elizabeth (Betty) Olheiser and lived and worked the Brener Farm for another two years. Helen was born here in 1941.

In 1943 they bought land (12-05-10), near Blewett, in the Cymri Municipality. Two more childern were born: Doris, in 1945 and Isadore in 1947.

In 1949 the family moved to Vancouver, B.C., bought a rooming house, and tried to live the city life. Joe found work as a boiler operator for Pacific Meat. In 1953 they headed back to the old farm.

The farm was enlarged when more land was purchased in the Benson Municipality. In 1959 Larry was born.

In 1968 Joe bought a home in Macoun.

MILLER - On Tuesday, December 13, 1988, Mr. Joseph Miller, dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away at Estevan at the age of 76 years. Predeceased by his parents, one brother Mike, one granddaughter Julie Anne Branvold. Survived by his wife Elizabeth of Macoun; two sons: Isadore (Mary Ann) of Calgary, Larry (Sheila) of Macoun; two daughters: Helen (Jerry) Wock of Estevan, Doris (Bryan) Branvold of Regina; seven grandchildren; Two brothers: Harry (Helen) of Estevan, and Tony (Betty) of Vancouver. Prayer service will be held on Thursday, December 15, 1988, at 8:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Boire Funeral Home, Estevan. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. from St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Estevan, with Rev. Fr. K. Miller the celebrant. Interment will follow in the Macoun Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Hospital Building Fund as tokens of remembrance. Funeral arrangements are in care of Boire Funeral Home, Estevan.

SCHWAB - Mr. Ludwig Schwab passed away at Estevan on Sunday, August 28, 1994 at the age of 74 years. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 1 from St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Estevan with Fr. Abello officiating. Prayers will be said at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, from the Chapel of Orsted Funeral Home, Estevan.

      Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 1994 at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Estevan. Officiating clergy: Fr. L. Abello. Interment: Estevan City Cemetery.

Worked for Western Dominion Coal from 1943 until 1960.
Moved his family into Estevan in August of 1960.
Got a full time job with Utility Coal Mine in June, 1964.
Worked for Utility Mine until he retired Decenber 31, 1989.

Nick was born at M & S Mine on December 18, 1924. He went to Black Diamond School for his esrly education and later attended Brown School. The family later moved into Estevan. When Nick was in his mid teens he worked on local farms around Estevan. In 1942, Nick started work for Western Dominion Coal Mines at Taylorton. He worked at the tipple as a loaderman and then as an oiler and finally as an operator on the draglines. When the mine closed he worked winters at the Costello Mine, east of Estevan, and in the summer For different oil companies and on farms in the surrounding area.

Nick met Josephine Olheiser in 1947 at the St. Joseph's Hospital. On March 31, 1948 they were married at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Estevan, this union produced four childern (Linda Diane, Robert Nicholas, Judith Marie, and Michael John).

In 1964, Nick started working for Manalta Coal - Utility Mine. He began as a labourer, then a coal hauler, then an oiler and then as an operator on the draglines. Nick worked for Utility Coal for 25 years and retired the end of December 1989.

Nick loved fishing, boating, some hunting, bicycle riding walking and traveling.

Nick died on Wednesday, September 12, 1990, of a massive heart attack, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Estevan at the age of 65 years.

Funeral Mass for Nick was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 1990 from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Estevan with Father J.R. Prince officiating. Interment followed at Estevan City Cemetery. Prayers were said at 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 14, from the Chapel of Orsted Funeral Home, Estevan.

Pallbearers were Allan Jacobson, Gordon Schwab, Melvin Murray, Jerry Wock, Barry Kuntz and Lloyd Shanner.

Nick was survived by his wife, Josephine, Estevan. Two sons, Robert (Katherine), Regina; Michael, Estevan. One daughter, Linda (Wayne) Gress, Estevan. Eight grandchildren, Mike E. and Andrew Kovh, Estevan; Jessica, Travis, Chantel, and Amber Gress, Estevan; Aaron and Nicole Liska, Regina. One son-in-law, Mike Kovh, Estevan. Three brothers, John (Mabel), Estevan; Bill (Wilma), Windsor, Ont.; Mike, Kelowna, B.C. Four sisters, Anne Hanson, Stella (Mike) Kuba, Mary Davidson, Pauline Nagy all of Windsor, Ont. One sister-in-law, Joyce Liska, Windsor, Ont. Also numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents, John and Sophie; one daughter, Judith Kovh; two brothers, Peter and Stephen; two brothers-in-law, Walter Hanson and Robert Davidson; one sister-in-law, June Liska.
