[Brøderbund WFT Vol. 6, Ed. 1, Tree #4125, Date of Import: Sep 30, 2000]

Johann and his two brothers, George and Dewalt, came to America, apparently, in 1744 on the ship, Friendship. George is the ancestor of a number of well-known people including James A. Beaver, governor of Pennsylvania from 1887 to 1891. The name has often been Anglisized to Beaver in this country. The three brothers settled in Berks County, Pennsylvania, near Kutztown and Dryville, about 15 miles NE of Reading. Johann died somewhat tragically while returning from Philadelphia after taking a load of grain to market there, a distance of about 50 miles. The supposition was that he was robbed and killed in the process.
