Notes for John Abner Nunnelee:
John Abner Nunnelee enlisted in the army 21 Feb. 1862 at Columbus,
Georgia. He was a private in Co. B, 37th Regt., Georgia Volunteers.

His only child Thomas Bartow Nunnelee was only 4 months old when John Abner
left for the war. John Abner was evidently buried near Chickamauga;
we have not located his grave. Inscription inside family Bible
"presented by my lost one who sleeps in a soldier's grave." I believe
these words were written by his widow Mary C. Jenkins Nunnelee.

Information about the family of Serena Catherine Raley and Thomas Jeff Walker was obtained from their daughter, Nellie Raley Byrd, in 1977. Her address was Nellie Walker Byrd, Rt. 2, Luverne, Ala. Nellie had a notarized copy of the children's names and births from the Family Bible of Serena and Thomas Walker. In 1954 the Bible was in the possession of Robert E. Walker, General Delivery, Lakewood, Florida.
