Includes NotesNotes for Walter Brian McGee:
Walter and his wife Ola were members of the Union Chaped Cumberland Presbyterian Church Little Richland Creek. The 77 year old poplar log church house had to be torn down and rebuilt.
In 1935 the old two story log church/school was razed and the logs recut. The size of the second church was determined by the length of the recut logs which were used to build the new building.
A poplar tree was cut and Walter McGee hewed out the plates for the rafters with a broad axe.
In the early 1940's after only 7 years in the new church building, the area was flooded by the TVA and the building was again disassembled. The logs were sold to Mr. John Box for $175.00
