Jonathan III Latimer (son of Jonathat II Latimer and Lucretia Griswold) was born April 12, 1755 in New London Ct., and died Bef. January 1846 in Sumner Co. Tn. He married Elizabeth Chapel on August 03, 1775 in New London Ct., daughter of Johathan Chapel and Elizabeth Comstock.

Major Jonathan Latimer III was in Webb's reg't, in the Revolutionary War.
His first lieutenant was NATHAN HALE . Nathan Hale took part in the battle of Bunker Hill and was later an American spy, who upon capture by the British and ultimate hanging said "I REGRET THAT I HAVE ONLY ONE LIFE TO GIVE FOR MY COUNTRY"

Jonathan 's family did not go to Tennessee with his father and family in 1790, but did settle in Sumner Co. Tennessee around 1800. He bought 228 acres on Station Camp Creek in 1802.
