Minnie Cottom Koen, wife of L.C Koen and daughter of Simon and Mary Cottom, was born September 12, 1875 and died at her home in Herrin, Wednesday morning, January 19th, at 6 oŁuclock, after a few daysŁu illness at the age of 45 years, 4 months and 7 days.
She was born and grew to young womanhood on her fatherŁus farm in the southern part of Perry County. In 1896 she was married to Lewis Koen. Two children were born to this union,
Lawrence, now grown to manhood, and Lorene about nine years old. The early part of their married life was spent in Ava. Some 15 years ago they moved to Herrin, where they have since lived. She was converted in her early youth and has lived a faithful Christian life. At the time of her death she was a member of the Methodist Church at Herrin. She leaves to mourn their loss, besides her husband and children here-tofore mentioned, the father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Cottom;
two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Speith and Mrs. Elsie Russsell, all of near Campbell Hill; the following half-brothers
and sisters, Mrs. Belva Kelley of Winkle, Mrs. Grace Higgerson of Denmark and William, Walter, Earl, Har-
old, Ruth, and Lula Cottom at home.
