32. JAMES7 SAPP (SAMUEL6, ROBERT5, BENJAMIN4, HENRY3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born April 20, 1820 in Guilford County, North Carolina, and died April 21, 1892 in Ashe County, North Carolina. He married NANCY JONES, daughter of JOSHUA JONES and FERABY CORNETT. She was born April 14, 1821, and died January 20, 1892 in Ashe County, North Carolina.

AMES SAPP:
James and Nancy are both buried in the Sapp Cemetery in Ashe County.

Through the Land Grant Office on December 3, 1836, James Sapp entered 100 acres on Bearpen Ridge in Ashe County. On August 31, 1844, he purchased from William Freeman 100 acres on Mill Creek, waters of North Fork of New River. On September 4, 1845, James Sapp sold the 100 acres on Mill Creek to John Weaver and then on April 5, 1854, he sold the 100 acres on Bearpen Ridge to Samuel Sapp. These were the only land transactions of James Sapp.

Records show that he was a surveyor and a justice of the peace.

33. PHILLIS7 SAPP (SAMUEL6, ROBERT5, BENJAMIN4, HENRY3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born July 25, 1821, and died August 15, 1853. She married JOSEPH OSBORNE, son of JOHN OSBORNE and NANCY GRAYBEAL. He was born April 23, 1823, and died February 20, 1911.

34. DAVID7 SAPP (SAMUEL6, ROBERT5, BENJAMIN4, HENRY3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born March 08, 1824, and died January 31, 1907. He married ZILPHA REEDY, daughter of JOHN REEDY and REBECCA WORKMAN. She was born August 22, 1825, and died September 11, 1906.

AVID SAPP:
David Sapp was a farmer and a strong man. Legend is that he made it home from the fields after he almost cut off his foot. One time when he thought he was dying, he called his family together and made them promise that they would always be Democrats.

Throught the Land Grant Office on September 14, 1847, David Sapp entered 100 acres on the waters of Hrse Creek in Ashe County. His father gave him land in the Rich Hill Community where David made his home. He later sold the land on Horse Creek. David and Zilpha Sapp are buried in the Sapp Cemetery.

35. JESSE7 SAPP (SAMUEL6, ROBERT5, BENJAMIN4, HENRY3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born November 02, 1825, and died April 21, 1896. He married (1) RACHEL FARMER. She was born January 26, 1831, and died April 22, 1882. He married (2) SARAH FRANCES EDWARDS PHIPPS April 1889, daughter of JAMES EDWARDS and CHARITY HAYES. She was born October 06, 1831, and died Bet. 1900 - 1910 in Tennessee.

ESSE SAPP:
Jesse Sapp was a farmer. From tradition, he ran a still for the government during the War Between the States. Some soldiers from the Union Army came by and he was supposed to have killed two of them.

Three different years (1846, 1848 and 1851), Jesse Sapp entered through the Land Grant Office a total of 300 acres on Rich Hill Creek in Ashe County. On April 25, 1853, he entered 56 acres on Little Horse Creek. He made his home on Rich Hill.

Jesse and Rachel Sapp are buried in the Sapp Cemetery.

TEPHEN ELLIOTT:
Tradition is that he was supposed to have been a stagecoach driver in Iredell County, North Carolina. He served with Company L, 58th Infantry Regiment, North Carolina Troops for a short time during the War Between the States. He switched over to the Union Army. After the war, he went west and fought against the Indians. They resided on Little Horse Creek in Ashe County and both are buried there in the Elliott Cemetery.
