Dear All, to some of you the fact that Patsy has been ill at all will be
news. But she has been , beginning in April then about 3 weeks in hospital,
then she came home yesterday. Our back bedroom fixed up as a hospice, my
bed taken by our very competent and compassionate Marilyn Arnold, hired to
take care of her.
>
>Her condition is bad. The diagnosis include: pneumonia, dementia,
infection in blood and about 4 more Latin names. Our two sons, Gil and
Patrick and I conferred with her doctor, who spelled it out thus:"heroic"
measures could keep her alive artificially, probably a year. Or he could
make his objective "comfort and pain free" not trying to prolong her life.
We and granddaughter Patti agreed on the latter.
>
>So she is home now. After first day: she is sometimes alert and quite
rational, conversing with us. Ten minutes later she can make no sense at
all and seem almost wild.
>
>I will keep you informed,
>Love to all,
>Brownie

Patsy Rae Brown passed away in her sleep in the early morning of May 31st (2002). It was painless and peaceful. She fought a valiant war against the various ailments that conspired to do her in. She is in a quiet place no doubt raising all sorts of grief for the complacent. We want to thank all of you for your sentiments and expressions of support for us.

Please join us in a memorial observation on June 8, 2002, at 1:00 PM at her favorite place--the beach at Portuguese Bend. We will have the traditional hot dog and hamburger cookout. Please bring a story to share. Email from Gil Brown.
