Moses was a provate in the G Co, 7th Mounted Infantry in the Union Army in the Civil War. He served from Nov. 8, 1864 to July 27, 1865. He was a minister, and served as pastor of Beechfork Baptist Church, and on the 30th day of August 1873, he and Rev. Sterling Adkins organized a church by the name of Pleasant Rest Church at Nicks Creek on the New River. The church was later named Nicks Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
