John Martin (son of James Martin and Mary Lamb) was born 06 Dec 1791 in Eccles, Berwickshire.48, and died 15 Sep 1879 in Parish of Bunkle, Preston, Berwickshire.49. He married Isabella Peacock on 30 Apr 1813 in Duns Parish50, daughter of James Peacock and Margaret Hill.

In the 1861 census John and Isabella were living in a private house in Preston village Berwickshire, aged 69 and 68. Staying with them was Granddaughter Helen aged 18 and Grandson James aged 5 also staying was Great Grandaughter Agnes 11months.

Johns occupation was given as Carter.
By the 1871 Census they were staying in the Carters Cottage in Preston village now aged 79 and 78, Johns occupation was again given as Carter and still staying with them was Grandson and my Great Grandfather James now 15 and working as a Agricultural Labourer he appears to have been raised by his Grandparents after the death of his mother just after his birth. Also still staying with them was Great Grandaughter Agnes aged 11.
On son James,s Death certificate in1888 John's occupation is given as Ploughman.
