You can go home
Jenny McAllaster, a 1998 Lyons High graduate in her second year at the
University of Kansas School of Medicine, Kansas City, Kan., is back home this
summer for the first time since her high school years.
As KU Med School summer rural preceptor, McAllaster is working with Dr. Matt
Schlotterback at the Lyons Medical Center.
She was just a little worried about how comfortable patients would feel, her
being a hometown girl, she said. But it's been nice working with people who
know her and are interested in how she's doing. She knew in junior high that
she wanted to be a doctor, she said.
"The first two years of medical school is all book work and you forget
how exciting the clinics are," McAllaster said. "This shows the light
at the end of the tunnel."
