McConnell's....Decsendants of the House of Stuart

Updated November 9, 2000

About Our Family Research

I have only just begun to research my family history. My name is Erin and I have an unresting desire to find all the missing information in my families genealogy. Relatives of mine have gone to Scotland and brought back quite a bit of information on our heritage and our direct link to Mary Queen of Scots. Beginning from my grandfather, John Thomas McConnell, I have traced us back to Frances Stuart who would be my grandfathers grandmother. She bore 4 children one of which was Andrew (Andy) McConnell, John Thomas's uncle. Andy was born in 1875 in Glasgo, Scotland. Frances, Andy's mother was married in 1874, but I don't know her husbands name. The story goes that the head of the House of Stuart (I don't know his name yet, or what year) had a daughter that married a McConnell who worked as a stable hand there. I assume that this occurred well after the rein of King James the 1rst, son of Mary Stuart. I am desperately seeking more information!! When Frances left Scotland she went to Philly where my grandfathers father, William (Bill) McConnell, brother to Andy McConnell was born. There were also 2 other children, Elizabeth and another brother. I am at the point now where I am looking into Scottish genealogy and I need to find Frances's husband, the year of her birth, and her parents names. That about covers it for the moment!
