In his yought from 1900-1904 worked for Jim Booth as a farm hand on Lot 19, Con 12. For 10 months of work he received his room and board in addition to $90 in wages. After he married Annie Kraft in 1906 he bought the farm on Lot 16, Con 14. In 1907 the barn was struck by lightning and burnt, and they had to erect a new barn. They shold the farm in 1909 and moved to Lot 38, Con 3., which they bought from a Mrs. Tate. They built a new brick house on the farm in 1916; the total cost for all material and labour was $2900.
