This KIDD KRONICLE Homepage is dedicated to my Mother, Ruth B. Kidd McMahan "All that I am and ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother", a quote by President Abraham Lincoln.
I have been interested in KIDD family research for over 25 years, ever since my Grandfather, Elmer Daniel "Shorty" Kidd passed away in 1972. I have looked high and low for KIDD's. His daughter Ruth B.(Kidd) McMahan, my Mother never was very interested in this matter, but her brother, Aubrey Wm. Kidd, a World War II Veteran and myself had a great time visiting people, cemeteries, historical societies, until his untimely sickness came up and he passed away in January 1998. I have never felt so lonely without my ole Friend. Ever since I had my heart transplant in 1993, I have tried to find more but don't get out as much. I at one time wanted to change my name from McMAHAN to KIDD, my Uncle Aubrey said, "Boy, your as much KIDD as I am, my Dad was a KIDD and my Mother was a MEADOWS, your Dad was a McMAHAN and your Mother was a KIDD." Another thing he told me was where I was gonna be buried. "You have to be buried here in Green County, (KIDD Cemetery, Crail Hope area) Kentucky, because God won't be able to find you up in INDIANA."
When in Green County, you have to read the Record-Herald, one fine newspaper. Always look forward in reading it. Its now on the internet. www.record-herald.com

I am also a very big Abraham Lincoln Buff. When you grow up, going through Hodgenville was a must before I-65 was built and we always had to go by Lincoln's Birthplace before you get to GREEN County, Kentucky, where a lot of my family were from. My Dad was from Mell Ridge area and my Mom was from the Crail Hope area. So Mr. Lincoln became a large part of my life, collecting books and articles about him and visiting Hodgenville about every time. My son was beginning to think we lived there. Everytime we went to Green County, ole Henry had to pull into the park, seemed like something was drawing me there to see if they had any new books of Mr. Lincoln.
