Copy of Baptismal Certificate of Philip Kuntz:

Philip Kuntz was born April 11, 1747, in Lehigh Township, Northampton County, in the State of Pennsylvania. His father is the honourable Bernard Kuntz, and his mother is Catharine, his houourable wife, whose maiden name was Eberhard, an inhabitant or resident of the above named Township. The two parents according to Christian duty, had him baptised shortly after his birth, in Holy Baptism. The Christian name of Philip was given to him, which is herewith certified to by my own hand. His bodily helper gave her word of honour as sponsor,
Barbara Newhard

The Lord preserve him in the vow he has made with the Triune God, so that he may never depart from it, or violate it, so that after this life, he may enter with all God's children into the joys of Eternal Life.

Per Marvin Koontz: Philip moved to Westmoreland County, near Greensburg, and was married to Emma Stembaugh. Children are:
Jacob, m. Hattie Brindle
Mary, m. Lohngrin
Catherine, m. Brendall
Ann Elizabeth, m. Bowman
Philip, m. Rumbaugh
Susan, no record
John, m. Susannah Welty
Margarette, m. Berlin
Sophia, no record
Hannah, m. Hornish

This information has been gathered through Miss Fannie Manning, a descendant of John and Susannah Welty; Miss Agnes Bowman, daughter of Philip Kuhns Bowman and Ann Elizabeth (Bowman); and Sue and Martha Smith, descendants of Hannah Kuntz, who was married to John Hornish, their grandmother, from whom considerable information was obtained direct. Miss Manning states that Philip served in the military during the Revolution. Many of the descendants still reside in the western section of the States, some having changed the spelling of the name to Kuhns.

Anna Margaretta's baptismal statement, from the records of her father:

"Anna Marguretta Stambach was born January 5, in the year of our Lord, 1754.
She was baptized in Albion Township, Berks County. Her father is the Honourable Philip Stambach and her mother Christina, born a Kuntz, residing in Northampton County. The baptism witnesses were, Jacob Kuntz and his honourable wife Anna Marguretta, residing in Albion Township, Berks County.
"Oh! Come into my heart,
Oh! Worthy Holy Gost
Be thou my soul's dear chart
Which guides to the Heavenly Host.
Oh! Make me clear and pure
Oh! Give me heaven sure,
My heart has great desire
For sparks of thy divine fire
For time and eternity
Oh! spirit great, do thou help me.
Ahmen."

A little story has come down, concerning the wedding gown of Marguretta Stambach. "It is said in those days, that Marguretta looked like a queen in her bridal gown, and it traveled far and near afterwards, even as far as Pittsburgh, to be worn by some pretty young bride, less fortunate, who had nothing but homespun materials in her wardrobe." (Quoted from an old family letter)

Notes for JohnJacob Kuntz:
First Supplement to History of Steward Family from Donald H. Steward , 12612 Elm St., Blue Island, ILL.60406, May 11, 1979

I am indebted to Mrs. Amelia Steward Abbott, 805 N. Elm Street, Red Cloud, Neb. 68970 for sending a clue to the family of Sarah Kuntz (Mrs. Charles Steward). Mrs. Abbott wrote that she had a birth certificate of her grandfather, James Kuntz. This clue enabled me to request the will of Jacob Kuntz, who died in Leigh Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania on Oct. 31, 1841. In seeking the Kuntz family I had already read the will of Peter Kuntz (brother of Jacob), but it did not contain a daughter, Sarah. The receipt of Jacob's will disclosed that his seventh child was Sarah, married to Charles Steward. A copy of this will is given below. It was difficult to read because it was hand written in German, with some of the idioms of the "Pennsylvania Dutch". I am grateful for the work of Mrs. Christa Modschiedler, a librarian at the University of Chicago, for her translation. Even so there were a number of words that could not be read, but the main text of the will is apparent. At this point, the important thing is the proof of the father of Sarah Kuntz, wife of Charles Steward (correctly spelled in the will!)
This will was sent to me by Thomas F. Schaeffer, Register of Wills, Northampton county Government Center, Easton, Pa. 20842. It is recorded in Will Book #5, page 483. The administrative settlement (in English) is File #5036. The will was written 7 Feb. 1840, and was probated 9 Nov. 1841 in Easton, Pa.
TRANSLATION:
In the name of God, Amen.
I, Jacob Kuntz, of Lehigh Township, Northampton County and State of Pennsylvania, because I have already reached a rather old age through the grace of God, and also find myself with a good mind and thinking powers, thanks be to the Lord.
Herewith, I make my last will and testament in the following manner as to how my estate should be dealt with after I have passed away.
First, I order and command that my executors named below shall sell all my land located in the above named Lehigh Township in Northampton County after proper and suitable time at public sale, and they should give the buyer or buyers a good deed and contract of sale. It also falls to my executors to sell all my goods that are still here at a public auction. My clothes shall not be offered for public sale, but my sons shall divide them among themselves. The money from the sale of the land above, and from the sale of my goods, and the money from my uncollected notes which shall be collected by my executors, and my remaining cash shall be dived equally to my children named below, or to their heirs, so that each is included with an equal part with the payments______? that each has already received; namely: Daniel; Jacob, Jr.; &Joseph; Katharina, married to Daniel Gross; Maria, now dead, married to ______?Schreyner; Sara, married to Charles Steward; and Susanna, married to William Mosser; and the children of the said deceased Maria Schreyner an equal part. Finally, (undeciperable)_____one thousand dollars already received. (?) It is further my will that my sons should not be charged any (_____Rent??) for the land they have already used, and the others no________? for the money already received.
Here it should be remarked, I have in safe keeping and for management the sum of 91 dollars and 56 cents of the deceased Solomon Gruber______? his property left_____? and the yearly earned dividends during their lifetime, and it is my command that my executors should hold such taxes ?? on ______? until the time that it can be paid to the heirs, which how ever cannot happen until after her death. (Here follows a sentence quite undeciperable regarding the commission or rewards for the executors for their receipts and payments?)
Finally, I appoint and name Daniel Kuntz and Johan Kuntz to be the executors of this my last will and testament, and so on the seventh day of February in the year of our Lord 1840 I add my name and seal on the above named day and year.

Signed and sealed in our
