Notes for WILLIS RAY BROWN:|
Unfortunate young man victim of gunning accident died Sunday Morning.
After lying at the Miners hospital in an unconscious state for thirty-six hours with a bullet lodged against the base of his brain, Willis Brown, aged 16 years, died at 3:00 Sunday morning. It was considered remarkable that the boy lived so many hours after receiving such an injury. While handling a gun in the back yard of his home at White Rock Friday morning the weapon accidentally was discharged and the bullet penetrated the boy's forehead, an inch and a half above his hight eye. It lodged against the brain, rendering the boy unconscious.
The boy was a son of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Brown of White Rock. He leaves two brothers, Brooks and Wayne Brown, and two sisters, Mrs. Herman Thorn and Edith. Undertaker Jenkins prepared the body for burial and took it last evening on the 4:30 train to Catawba to the home of the grandmother of the deceased, Mrs. Haun. The boy's mother was the formerly Miss Alice Haun.
The funeral will be held this afternoon at 3:30 from the Haun residence
