He loved to fish. They had a cottage on Blue Lake up by Bitley, Mi. that was the place for many family vacations. He could make the best pancakes in the world, nice and thin, cooked just right. He liked to play cribbage and while keeping score he was teased about pushing the pencil in his favor all the time. He did not like to lose! He liked to watch boxing on TV ,his feet used to get shuffling fast if it was a good match. It was a tradition that all families would go to Grandpa's and Grandma's on Christmas Eve. It was s a fun time for all. Grandma would make the best anise cookies for this day. Grandpa used to go and cut down their Christmas trees and one year mom said he came home with a tree so big it filled the dining room, where they set it up always. She said the bulbs were spread so far apart that the tree looked sparsely decorated. Death Cert. # 48902

Della was a very kind and generous person. She never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was an excellent cook! She cared deeply about her family. She was afraid of water(Lakes, Etc.) but first husband drowned. She liked to play cards, dice games, etc. When Gale and I were in our young teens she had told us if we ever thought about growing our hair long, turning into Hippies and running away, she would come and find us not matter how long it took and bring us back home. She always dished your plates so full of food and was known to say "if you can't eat it up have some more". It was always a special time to get to go sleep over at grandma's. She spent the last few year s in Greenview Nursing Home which was hard for her. She never wanted to give up her house but was unable to care for herself anymore. She was so happy to see her great-grandchildren. She would save little treats for them so she had something to give them when we would visit. She was such a special person! Della gave birth to a set of twins, between Kay and Gus, both of which died.
