Riverton, Jan. 12 Abbie, daughter of Thomas and Martha Elizabeth Grafford, was born at Manteno, Shelby County, IA., July 31, 1861, where she grew to young womanhood. She was united in marriage to John J. Andrews and Kennebee, Monona county, IA., July 21, 1878, and to this union was born seven children, three of which passed from this life in infancy. Those who with the bereaved husband are left to mourn are Mrs. Blanch Coslet, who lives near Randolph, IA; George Andrews of Red Oak, IA., and Mrs. Nea Cooper of Riverton. Besides these she leaves eight grandchildren and a large circle of neighbors and friends. She had been in very poor health for the past three years and has been a great sufferer for several months. A few weeks ago she realized that her stay on this earth was drawing near and called her pastor, Elder C. A. Thornton, and wife, and gave them instructions in reference to her funeral. She died Sunday evening, January 8, at about 7:30 o'clock. The deceased united with the Methodist church before coming to Fremont county, but soon after the organization of the Christian church here, she placed her membership with that church and has been a faithful worker in the church, Bible school, Endeavor and Ladies' Aid until she was obliged to be absent on account of failing health. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the pastor, C. A. Thornton. The remains were laid to rest in the Riverton Cemetery. The family has the sympathy of the entire community in their great sorrow.
