Dennis Morris of the Eastern Shore of Maryland/Virginia

About Our Family Research

I have traced my direct lineage back to Dennis Morris of Accomac Co., VA (b.c. 1630, d. 1690) and dwon to many Morris descendants mainly settling in Worcester and Somerset Counties, MD (from 1727 to 1911). My goal is to trace all descendants so I have al lot of collateral information on other families. My belief is that by doing this I might find the few descendants that have a portrait or picture of a n ancestor, papers or a family bible. I am fortunate enough to have my third great grandfather's desk and many books from family members. James Morris, 1870-1873, owned two family bibles and this has proofed invaluable in my research. I started my research when I was 12 so many of the notes I have are over 25 years old. I have been blessed to have actually met many of James Morris' descendants. Currently, I am finishing a project to trace all of James Morris' descendants on the 1850 to 1920 Census. Other close families of interest are Disharoon, Pollitt, Hayman, Gillis, Covington. I am similarly researching direct lines through the families of Anderson, Pusey, Disharoon, Hillman/Hilghman, Harris, and Vickers, all from the Eastern Shore.
