Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1 :30 at the Schutte Funeral Home and at 2:OO at St. Paul`s Lutheran Church for Mrs. Lena Krogmann 85 who passed away Sunday following a lingering period of declining health.

The rites were in charge of Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig.Burial was in the Postville Cemetery,Mrs. Krogmann had been a resident of this community for 65 years.
Mrs. Lena Buettner Krogmann, daughter of Fredrick Martin Buettner, was born October 10,1866 in Sachsen Meiningen,Thuringa,Germany and departed this life on February 3,1952 at her home in the Cherry Valley vicinity after a lingering period of declining health, aged 85 years, three months and 23 days.

Mrs. Krogmann was received into active membership in the Lutheran in 1880 at Spechtbrunn.

In 1887 Mrs. Krogmann left her native country for the United States and arrived here on July 17 of that year. She came directly to Postville community which remained her home for the balance of her earthly life.

Mrs. Krogmann was united in marriage with Henry Krogmann of Postville on march 3, 1893 by the late Pastor John Gass of St. Paul`s Lutheran Church. To this union two children were born both of whom survive the passing of their mother.

Mr. and Mrs. Krogmann, following their marriage established their family home on a farm about two miles south of Postville. Here they remained for about two years. They then purchased the farm in the Cherry Valley vicinity which remained her home until death came to her.

Left to mourn her passing are her two children: Emma Krogmann and William Krogmann both at home;as well as other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Krogmann was preceded in death by her husband in March 1939,her parents and two sisters.

I have three surnames for her,Bechtold, in St. Paul`s Lutheran Church of Postville, her marriage record as Pechtell and her obituary has Buettner(Bittner). I have no idea which one is right.
