About Our Family Research

In 1970 I put together a little family outline with the help of my mother-in-law who was a professional genealogy researcher. But the research was done in libraries and most documents were copied by hand. In 2003, my interest was renewed so I have assembled a family tree database of 2000 names.
The main branches are descended from:

**Samuel PRESTON b.1775 Ireland/Immigrated to Wash.Co.,VA 1790. Three generations of Thomases & Johns down to Thomas Preston in Electra, TX.

**Nicholas MUNDY b. abt. 1635 England (Ireland?)/Immigrated 1665 to New Brunswick, NJ. Lots of Samuels and Nicholases.

**Wilson DAVIS b.1823 TN(m. Eliz. Emma AIKIN b.1820 TN)-She & children came to Grayson then Montague/Clay Co.,TX abt. 1864.)

**Josiah S. BROWN b.1855 Van Buren Co., AR (m. Mattie DAVIS) came to Clay/Grayson/Montague Counties, TX 1880 Son of Geo. R. Brown

**Charles GOKEY, SR. b. abt 1857 Sullivan Co.,IL (m. Margaret C. FERGUSON b. 1860 IN)"Indian Trader," lived Jones,OK
(son of Grashern/Grashom of NY, son of Joseph of France/Canada)

**Scottish FERGUSON brothers married the same woman. The older brother died as a Civil War soldier and the younger James (and his journal) survived the war to marry his brother's older widow. James is buried on the Gokey property in OK. Gokey's wife was Margaret Ferguson mentioned above.
