On June 3, 1910 at Stratford, the Washington & Lee chapter of the Daughters of The Confederacy presented Thomas P. Hynson with the Confederate Cross of Honor.

"Manassas Democrat" newspaper dated November 7, 1912:

Frederick W. HYNSON, for many years a prominent business man of Manassas, died last Monday in George Washington Hospital at Washington. His death came suddenly, although not unexpected. Mr. HYNSON is survived by a wife and three children, Frederick, Reed and Mrs. ROGERS, formerly Miss Sadie HYNSON.
Mr. HYNSON's earlier life was spent in Westmoreland Co. Virginia, and later he came to Manassas, where for many years he was associated in business with his brother, the late C. L. HYNSON, and was a prominent and well known business man in this section of the country.
Mr. HYNSON was also a brother of Washington, well known to many in Manassas.
Mr. HYNSON has not been in business here for some time, having left here quite a few years ago. The funeral was held from the Baptist Church with Interment in the Manassas cemetery, the Rev. T. D. D. CLARK officiating.

DEATH OF SEDRICK HYNSON
Father of Mrs. J. H. Burke Victim of Bright's Disease Saturday

Sedrick HYNSON, well known in Manassas, died Saturday at Providence Hospital, Washington, a victim of Bright's disease. During the past year Mr. HYNSON has undergone several operations for gastritis, from which it was thought recently he was recovering, but a short while ago it became apparent it is said, that he was afflicted with Bright's disease.
The deceased, a native of Westmoreland County, was born in 1856. When a young man he came to Manassas remaining here a few years and then going to Washington City where he engaged in the life insurance business. In March 1886, he was married to Miss Meakel WILSON, of Alexandria. After her death in 1914, Mr. HYNSON came to Manassas, where he had since made his home.
Mr. HYNSON was a member of the Manassas Baptist church. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. John H. BURKE, of Manassas; a half-brother, Mr. Wm. HYNSON, and a half-sister, Mrs. Lenora POUNDS, both of Westmoreland county.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. T. D. D. CLARK Tuesday afternoon from the Baptist church, and the remains were laid to rest in the Manassas cemetery. The pall bearers were Messrs. R. L. GAITHER, E. H. HIBBS, G. B. COKE, Jas. R. LARKIN, Harry P. DAVIS and Walter HIBBS.

Mr. Sedwick HYNSON, a well known citizen of Manassas died last Saturday at Providence Hospital, Washington, of Brights disease, from which he had suffered for some time. He was born in Westmoreland county in 1858, and would have been 64 years old his next birthday.
Mr. HYNSON had been twice married, his first wife being Miss Meaker WILSON, of Alexandria. From this union a daughter was born, Mrs. John H. BURKE, of this place, who together with his second wife, formerly Mrs. Josephine GROVES, of Washington, survive him.
The funeral was conducted at the Baptist Church on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. T. D. D. CLARK. The beautiful floral tributes showed the high esteem in which the deceased was held by his friends and relatives. The pallbearers were E. H. HIBBS, W. F. HIBBS, George B. COCKE, H. P. DAVIS, R. L. GAITHER and Jas. R. LARKIN. Interment was in the Manassas cemetery.
Mr. HYNSON represented Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for over twenty-five years and had the unusual honor of having received a medal in appreciation of his faithful services to the company.
Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were, Miss Alice GROVE, Mrs. Harry BEAVANS, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. EVANS, Mr. George HYNSON and Mr. Frank WEAVER, of Washington; Mrs. Charlie BRUIN, of Alexandria and Messrs. Wharton and Everett SANDERS of Warsaw, Virginia.

On Wednesday of last week Mrs. Meaker HYNSON, wife of Sedgwick HYNSON, and mother of Mrs. J. H. BURKE of Manassas, died at her home in Washington, after a long illness which covered a period of about four months.
The funeral services, conducted by Rev. Henson V. HOWLETT, assisted by Rev. E. Hez SWEMM, were held last Sunday afternoon and the remains now rest in the Congressional Cemetery in that city. The pallbearers were: Messrs. BEAVANS, EVANS, GAINES, RADER, HENDERSON and HANSON.
Mrs. HYNSON was living in her fifty-fifth year. Before her marriage to Mr. HYNSON she was Miss Meaker WILSON, of Alexandria. With her husband she moved to Washington and for twenty-nine years has been a resident of that city.
She was well-known to a great number of friends in Manassas and Washington. Although never living here she was widely acquainted. Mrs. HYNSON was a Christian woman of high ideals and character and beloved by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Sedgwick HYNSON, and one daughter, Mrs. John H. BURKE, of Manassas.
