HYNSON Receives Plaque From William and Mary

(Editor's Note: Frederick R. HYNSON died on Monday of this week at his home.)

The College of William and Mary has presented to Fred R. HYNSON, 479 N. Grant Ave., Manassas, an authentic reproduction of the College Coat of Arms endowed upon President James BLAIR by the College of Heralds in 1694, which was the first Coat of Arms granted to an American institution. William and Mary is the only college in the United States with a royal charter.
This year marks the 125th anniversary for the Society of the Alumni for the College of William and Mary. This memento plaque is a tribute given to a select group of Alumni in grateful appreciation for the support which they have contributed to the society in recent years.
Their contributions have made possible faculty research grants, academic scholarships, support of student activities, faculty recruiting, library programs and other prominent activities.
Quoting from a personal letter to Mr. HYNSON, "Your help has made possible many wonderful programs on this campus, and has served as a reminder to faculty and administration that behind them stands an interested and concerned body of alumni."
