John Stromatt Head Born August 05, 1763, Son of James Head and Ann? One br other Anthony and a sister Lucretia. James' brothers are William b. 173 5, Benjamin b. 1731 and Thomas b. abt 1745. James is the son of James He ad and Betty?, his brothers are Alford/Afred?, Anthony, Henry b. 1695 a nd George. Their father is William Head, the younger and mother Elizabet h? His father William Head, the elder. For a long time I could not find a nything on John Sromatt, now I trip over him every now and then. I find r eference to a Joseph Head, who is the Grandson of John Stomatt. Josep h, a confederate soldier married Luckie Isabella Pearson, they had fifte en children. I try to save what I find. When I get it all sorted out I wi ll be happy to send you what I can. I am working on confirmation of wh at I have now. Hope this helps. Deidre ddreez@aol.com

From the book "Head - Descent of Henry Head (1695 - 1770) in America" by I dress Head Alvord: Henry Head seems to have been the first of this fami ly in America. His parents were probably James (died 1748) and Betty Head.

Henry was a planter in Virginia and he died in Spotsylvania County.

He married Frances Spence and his will, dated 2/25/1765, proven in Spotsyl vania County, VA, on 5/7/1772 listed their children: Henry(Harry), Alexand er Spence, Mildred and Benjamin. (Spotsylvania County,VA, Will Book D, pa ge 404).

Henry and his family were in Lancaster County, VA, in 1716 because he w as taxed for three tithables, indicating that he had a wife and one child.

Found in "Forks of the Elkhorn Church" p.127.. Also in "Spottsylvania City
Records" by Crozier. Will states children were Henry, Alexander Spence, Be nj,
Mildred Edwards & wife Frances. Also found in large Volume on the Head Fam ily
