I am in the beginning stages of tracing my Noel family. My grandfather was Joseph Russell Noel, Sr. who was called Russell. He was born around 1911. His parents were Edward(or Edgar)Noel and Josephine Bernell of North Adams, MA. Russell had an older sister Viola,2 younger sisters, Hazel and Maude(or Florence) and a younger brother Charles. Viola married Joe Pelaquin from Brockton and owned/operated motorcycle thrill shows. Their 5 sons:Joe, Russell, Louie, Paul(Sonny)and Frankie followed that family tradition. Hazel and Maude both married Richardsons from Brockton; unknown if they were related. Nothing known on Charles.
Russell (my grandfather) married Isabelle Mary Gibbons,youngest daughter of John Gibbons and Ellen Veronica (or Nellie) Ryan Gibbons; the older sister was Gertrude Gibbons. Russell and Isabelle had 5 children: Mary Ellen,Joseph R. Noel Jr (Sonny), James Edward, John Thomas, and Linda A. Linda was later adopted by another family. Russell Noel died on Jan. 29, 1949. Joe or Sonny, married Frances Puliafico in 1957 and had Jolynn (myself) and Joseph Russell Noel III (Russ). Russ now has a 3 yr old son, Joseph Russell Noel IV. Russ also got his chance at riding in the motorcycle show for several years, keeping with the Noel/Pelaquin tradition of showmanship (See the link to the Wall of Death on this page).
