Notes for Augen VERAAS: Augen and Anne Veraas had eleven children. Anne died of a hemorrhage. Augen drove as fast to town (Christiansand, I think) to get the doctor and back as fast as the horses could go but she was gone. She bled through the mattress and on the floor. Dad took a lock of her hair but when he came over the ocean on the ship all his belongings were lost. Grandpa Augen remarried and had 11 children with his second wife. He lived to be 87 yrs. old Dad told about himself and sister were playing, running around in the house. His mother and aunt had taken a big kettle of hot water off from the stove and set it on the floor and his sister fell into it. They were so stunned they didn't take her out right away. Whether they took her out or somebody else or not I don't know. He missed her very, very much." Mrs. John L. LARSON
