The Phyllis Shimmin Memorial Tree

I have created this family tree in honour of my late Aunt, Phyllis Adelaide Shimmin. She was the keeper of memories for our family. When she passed away I was tasked with sorting through her things, and found photos, notes, envelopes full of birth, marriage and death announcements covering members of our family on both sides of the Atlantic, and several carefully hand written attempts to chronicle the history of our family. If only she had understood the power of the internet!
And so, I began to piece her records together, and build on them. I'm still pretty new to this, and I'm sure my methodology will continue to refine itself over time. So far her treasure trove has introduced me to family in England that I had heard her speak of, but failed to understand their importance; I have created likages with my partner's family both in Italy and the U.S., and have taken up her flame as the keeper of memories for my family. If your searching has led you to our raggedy clan - welcome. I hope my work can be of some help. And even if you're just "passing through" - I'd like to share Phyllis's enduring wish with you - Peace and Goodwill!
