  Notes for Coleman Mannion:
Coleman was the eldest of the Mannion family, born probably in the early 1870s. He married in Ireland and had a son. His young wife died. The son, known as SOnny Mannion, stayed in Ireland while Coleman went to England to find work. While in England Coleman met and married Margaret Corrigan. They had five children in England and then moved as a whole family to America. At that time Ted was a baby so they came to America around 1909-10.
The child Sonny stayed in Ireland and never met his half brothers and sisters. He worked as a school teacher in Ireland and died around the age of 50.
While in America the family had their other children.
Mary Mulroe and my mom says "Coleman had difficulty adjusting to the kind of work in America. He had worked in Ireland and England." I don't know what that meant but the family, I believe, owned a three flat on Sedgwick street in the 1500 block.
I don't remember Coleman but do remember his wife Aunt Maggie. She was always old to me and as thin as a rail. She lived a long life, however, I don't know her age of death.

  Notes for John (Jack) Mannion:
Last of the Mannions known to live in the house Grandma Lowery was raised in RosMuk. Jack died sometime in the 1980s. We went to the house in 1980 with Mom and Dad but never went in. It was, at that time, a very depressing moment for Noreen and I to view the house our grandmother was raised in. It was not kept up well. Jack lived there with his dog. He was in town at a pub at the time. We looked through the window and saw a very small house, with a fireplace, it looked like two rooms with a small loft.
We couldn't imagine how a family of twelve could possibly inhabit this small cottage. It looked out toward an inlet in Galway Bay. At the time we saw it there was a big drop down to the water only a about 100 feet from the front door.
In 1996 we went there again with our children. That day was a bit more sunny. The house is tucked away, almost impossible to find. After many attempts, finally we did find it by seeing a large rock on the opposite side of the road that led to the house. You must understand that there were literally thousands of rocks in the area - the rocky Connermara terrain. This time the house looked charming. It had been purchased by a French family and is in the processed of being updated. The front door was freshly painted blue. Inside they were putting up plasterboard walls and it had been freshly painted. We took several pictures in front of the house. The road leading to the house was totally overgrown and we scrapped the bottoms of our cars several times. We made it, however, and were happy that we had done so.
