My Mother's family includes the Gernat and Kolcun families from Circ, Ruska Volya and Obruchne, three small villages in the former county of Saris, Hungary, now in the Stara Lubovna region of Slovakia.
My Father's family includes the Oresick and Rudowsky families from Krolik Polski and Balutianka in the Sanok region of Galicia, now Poland.
We would be happy to share the information that we have.
The bulk of the data below was extracted from microfilm copies of Vital Records examined through the L.D.S. Family History Libraries, and we thank them for the opportunity. The information was compiled by Ed Gernat, Peter Oresick, and Larry Oresick. We want to thank everyone else who supplied information and they include: Elizabeth Ann Kvartek, William Chomiak, Mrs. Margaret Hanchin, Mrs. Olga Chechak, Daniel Gernatt, Fr. David Gernatt, Kathy Gernatt, Bill and Kathy Oleksak, David Matsey, David Ross, Debi Petriscak Onken, Dick Cirka, Elen Orson, Helen Moore, Eric Moore, Eric N. Kuns, Fred G. Kovalyak, Karin T. Locke, Michael J. Krasulski, Eleanor MacDonald, Rich Custer, Sherry Williams, Steve Rudowski, Tanya M. Markin, and Teresa A. Oslick.
In the L.D.S. microfilms of the Circ Vital Records, the entries written in Latin begin about 1783. There are about 60 pages of earlier records that are apparently unreadable. We later found that these pages were written in Old Slavonic, and cover the period from about 1753 to 1782. Peter M. Oresick found a translator, Yuri Shcherbina, and commissioned the translation. As far a we know, this is the only translation of these records into English. The translated entries are located on the page in the same position as in the original. There is some uncertainty about the dates of possibly two or three years.
