!John Gann taught school for some years and became the owner of a large plantation and many s laves. He was one of the pioneer settlers of Cobb County, moving into the district in 1834 , two years after it had been laid out into townships. He soon became active in public affai rs, his first office being that of Representative to the Georgia Assembly. He served two ter ms in the Lower House and in 1841 was elected State Senator, leaving the impress of his indiv iduality upon the laws ofthe Commonwealth. For many years he was a member of the Georgia Mil itia, holding the rank of Major. !William was a veteran of the Mexican War and participated in the Civil War in which he defen ded the interests of the South and was killed at the First Battle of Manassas. He died in th e Richmond, Virginia Confederate hospital as a Confederate soldier who, at that time, had fou ght in five major battles with the Yankees.

!William fought in the Civil War. He was a member of Company A, 40 Regiment,
Georgia Volunteer Infantry, enlisted 10 Mar 1862, was 1st Sgt and reduced in
rank to Pvt in 1863, was captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi on 4 July 1863, was paroled and l eft in hospital there July 1863. His name appears on a list of prisoners of war who were deli vered off Mobile Bay Harbor, AL on board the S.S. Crescent on 4 Aug 1863. 22 July 1864 was ki lled at Atlanta, Georgia.

!Bozeman Adair was in Company A, 40th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, and Company H, 19 th Regiment, was appointed Jr. 2nd Lt. when he enlisted on 10 Mar 1862. He was elected 2nd L t. He was captured at Baker's Creek, Mississippi on 16 May 1863 and paroled at Ft. Delaware , Delaware on 6 Oct 1864. He was exchanged at Cox's Wharf, James River, Virginia on 15 Oct 1 864.
