Isaac Benjamin Coonfield born 1780 Pennsylvania married Barsheba Clark in Kentucky and they are found on the 1800 tax list.
.
IF ISAAC COONFIELD WAS BORN ABOUT 1780 PENNSYLVANIA
.
HE WAS IN KENTUCKY FOR THE 1800 TAX LIST AND
.
THE 1810 CENSUS
.
Moses B. Coonfield in Pennsylvania might have been his brother. Gideon and Oliver Confield were in New York about that time. Yet Isaac never used these names when his sons were born, unless Moses B was a Benjamin. Isaac's father might be Robert J. Confeld so he could be Robert James. It is speculated that Christopher Confeldt is Isaac's grandfather from Holland but we never see that name used in his descendents, yet we do not know what his middle name might have been. It is possible that Christopher had several sons and these names are all related - the old census records do not show their ages, so again it is possible some of these names are sons of Robert.
.

My lineage is at the bottom of the page....and cousin Dorline had done extensive research on Luella's sister, Amy Coonfield, since that was her grandmother.

SHE MUST BE WIDOWED BY THIS TIME and her name was obviously mispelled by census transcribers, causing difficulty in locating her on census.

I believe that Archelus Clark was archibald and maybe her brother, maybe obediah was her brother too , all living near each other. They may all be children of Obediah born 1756 VA

William Holland Steward may be mentioned as one of the prosperous and
progressive farmers and stock raisers of Benton County, Ark. He was
born in Bedford County, Va., December 23, 1829, and is a son of Josiah
Edwin and Mary (Signor) Steward, who were born in Virginia February
24, 1805, and March 23, 1800, and died in Indiana in 1872 and December
30, 1886, respectively. The father was a farmer, and he and wife were
members of the Protestant Methodist Church. The great grandfather
Steward was born in Scotland, and came to America, serving in the
Revolutionary War. William Holland Steward was taken to Indiana by his
parents when quite a small boy, and was there reared, educated and
married, the latter event taking place in 1852, to Miss Lydia Ellen
Coonfield, who was born in Marion County, Ind., October 27, 1833.
Their union was blessed in the birth of ten children: Mary A., wife of
Thomas Mason; George Newton (deceased), Elmira J., wife of Robert
True; John A.; Martha A., wife of James, True; Isaac E., William A.,
James W., Theodore J. and Richard A. Mr. Steward commenced life with
small means, and met with severe losses during the late war, but by
industry and good management has now a comfortable competency and a
good and well-cultivated farm of 120 acres. He and family worship in
the Methodist Episcopal Church, and have been worthy residents of
Benton County, Ark., since 1854. Mrs. Steward's parents were Isaac and
Lydia (Epperson) Coonfield.

And said sale was set for the 27” day of November 1909, and the said Charles Marley, Sheriff as aforesaid, did upon said day, between the hours prescribed by law, at the door of the Court House of Morgan County, offer for sale at public auction, the rents and profits of said Real Estate for a term not exceeding seven years, and having received no bid therefor, he did then and there offer for sale at public auction the fee-simple of said Real Estate, and Jacob Pierce having bid the sum of Two Hundred and Eighty-four dollars and 85 cents,

[MP]

Oh yes, I remember when they lived down there in the hills in Morgan County and I can remember the little house but the house is gone.  I wish we could go down there sometime.

[ME]

Yes.  They didn't have the farm when you were there, right?  In Morgan County?

[MP]

They just had a few acres at the last.  He had at one time had 40 acres and it was woods across the road then some way or other, I don't know, that got away from them.

[ME]

Well, yes, it was in a bankrupt sale, I think it was called.  My son's got the papers on that.

[MP]

Well, I know that that got away from them.  Then they had a few acres left that they farmed and then Grandpa was sick and they came up to our house which we lived near Smith's Valley then.

And they came there and that's where Grandpa died at our house.

[... other topics were discussed ...]

[ME]

As far as you know, they were not on the farm when you knew Grandma and Grandpa Coonfield.

[MP]

No, that farm wasn't theirs.

[ME]

That farm was already gone.  They were living in a small house down there?

[MP]

(yes) There was a small house and barn and out buildings and ...

[CP]

They had a few acres there.  Just a few.  Not very much.

[MP]

He always raised a little corn and raised a big garden.

[ME]

Now that was in Morgan County, right?

[MP]

That's in Morgan County.

[CP]

See, they lived right around the hill from my grandfather.

[ME]

Ok, this is still in Morgan County we're talking about instead of Johnson County.  See, I'm confused about the counties.

[MP]

Well, they're close there.  The line's close there.  Not far over into Morgan County.  But it's pretty hilly there.  And then when Grandma moved away from down there, the little place, Day bought that.  What was that Day that lived back up there? ... Omer Day.  Omer Day bought that.  His ground joined it.  And then I

understand that the buildings are gone.  Doris and I just have always said we going to walk down and go back in there.  They closed that road.  There's been no road there for years, now.  For years and years, since I was small, because after Grandma died, see, and he bought that and that belonged to him so he ...

[ME]

He closed the access to it then, when he bought it.

 [MP]

Yes

[ME]

Do you know about when it was that he would have bought it, about what year?

[MP]

Well, whatever year Grandpa died, was after he died.

[ME]

He died in '14.  In 1914.

[MP]

Then I wouldn't be sure of the year that ...

[ME]

But it was close to the year that Grandpa died, so it was between say 1914 and 1920 he would have bought it.

[MP]

Yes.  And I imagine they used some of that expense for funeral expense and whatever they had, you know, right then.

I’ve got an older picture of Mary Day’s husband Daniel Wesley & they did live over their by Herschel in the Coonfield hollow.

I’m also enclosing a few pages of their deed, but it doesn’t have any signatures on it.

We finished picking our corn on Oct. 18, that the earliest we ever finished.  So I went over and drove Herschel’s big truck and one of ours, and I hauled all of his crops.  We borrowed his chisel plow, and Dad plowed all of our ground.

I thought it was odd Herschel was picking corn and I was sitting on his truck in the field right West of the Coonfield hollow reading, when I came on to this inquire.
