The will was dated 4 Nov 1780 and probated 15 May 1781.
Last Will and Testament of John Payne, very sick and weak but in perfect mind and menory.
To my son WILLIAM, SAMUEL, JOSAH (JOSIAH ?), RHODA AND MARY PAYNE one shilling.
To my son CHARLES PAYNE the land I now live on.
The land I sold ZACHARAH BOOTS he shall have a rigt to. The land I intended to live on where the new cabin is built, I leave to my son REUBEN PAYNE.
To my son JOHN PAYNE two cows and calves when he marries.
I lend to my loving wife all my movable estate during her widowhood. She is not to dispose of anything at her own will. At her marriage or decease, the estate to be sold and the money equally divided between JOHN PAYNE and CHARLES PAYNE and the children of my last marriage.
Appoint WILLAM DURRETT and JOHN PAYNE executors.

I have a piece of land in Wilkes County , North Carolina which is to be sold and divided as above.
