Please be aware that most if not all of the Berks County ,PA Haags are descendents of Henric Huyck (Dutch-German) from Wesel who came to Manhattan with his family. His son Jan married Eliz/Lysbeth Minuet, son of Pieter Minuet Sr. Jan's brother-in-law was Peter Minuet of purchasing the island of Manhattan fame. Jan was present at this purchase. The name was Dutch and they subsequently moved to Albany and intermarried with my ancestors the Schaffers in Schoharie.My ancestors then fled the rigid and unyielding patroon system and trekked to PA to the Tulpehocken- The Schaffers were among the Tulpehocken 15 who were the first to brave the wilderness and travel unknown trails to PA in 1723. My connection is Maria Susanna Haag married to my Johann Nicolaus Schaffer dec 17,1753 in Northkill, Berks,PA.Have more info. Can't speak for all the Haags but mine were only coincidentally German with a Dutch flavor. See history of Wesel.
