Ancestors of Christina Marie Wise Brown

      288. Edward Wooldridge, born 1711 in Henrico Co., Virginia; died 1808 in Chesterfield Co., Virginia. He was the son of 576. John Wooldridge and 577. Martha Osborne. He married 289. Mary Flournoy 1742.

      289. Mary Flournoy, died 1805. She was the daughter of 578. Francis Flournoy and 579. Mary.

Notes for Edward Wooldridge:
Edward Wooldridge married Mary Flournoy and his brother William married her sister, Sarah, daughters of the French Huguenots Francis & Mary Flournoy who settled at adjoining Makinin Town.
At one time Edward owned 1600 acres in VA and 2000 acres in Kentucky--he seems to have lived and died in a house on a piece of land from his father on the Old Buckingham Road. Besides being a successful planter, he kept an oridnary (tavern) at his house, as did 2 of his brothers. He was exempt from paying taxes in his later life due to old age--he lived to be 97, the longest-lived of his siblings.

In January 1757, son Edward Wooldridge was examined for the supposed murder of Francis Brown, but the Court concluded he was not guilty and did not pass the case to General Court for trial. The stress could not have been easy on his aging father.
