In the 1854 Searcy Tax records, Amos owed $1.00. Middle name from Mary Jane Rice. 1854 Searcy Co. Tax list Poll I, 0 acres, 1858 Searcy Co. Tax Poll 1 00 acres. 1866 Tax Poll 1, 00 acres Found Ames (Amos) Holt in 1860 Big Flat Township, Searcy Co.134-128, 1870 in Big Flat Searcy Co. Big Flat Twp.Page 3, 27 - 27 (Big Flat was in Searcy Co until 1873 then in Stone Co.) . 1880 Searcy Co. Beaver Twp PAGE. 370 86-101 son Jesse (a widow) and Grandson James A. age 2 living with him. They Had 11 children, 7 living. Parents born in Tenn also. He was a farmer and Sabra his wife was keeping house. CENUS,Searcy Co. found on Page 12, Line 5 V. 12, Ed 174. In a book BAXTER CO HISTORY BY FRANCES SHIRAS on the folklore of Searcy Co. Page 67 a story on Big Flat Amos Holt and a Mr. Middleton was listed as owners of the Old water wheel mill situated about 5 miles west of the town on Cedar Creek known as John Rose mill as he acquired and rebuilt it in 1887. It was the only way to get their corn & wheat ground. In Salt Lake, I found that Amos Holt had built the water wheel in 1850. Ref("optimus" page 445). 1890 Tax payer lists Amos at Beaver Creek. Enoch is also at Beaver Creek.CENSUS. A. Holt had no horses, 13 cattle, Value 20, Nest Cattle 2, Val 130, Hogs 10, Value 10.
CENSUS 1900 Searcy Co. Beaver Twp Page 34 Emun dist. 174, 146/148. Living next door to son James and my ggrandfather William S. and daughter Sarah Holt Rose.
1910 Census Spring Township Searcy Co. Ark. living with son Wayne & his wife Jennie (listed as Nancy v.) lists Amos & Sabrey as age 86 married 66 years with 11 children 8 living. It lists a 1 under survive of union or confederate army. LeRoy & I visited Silver Hill Cemetery in Marshall, Ark. and took pictures of the tombstones in 1995.
Enoch, Amos and Wayne Holt paid off a mortgage to Baker & Mabrey General Merchandise on Feb 18, 1895. Have copy. They had mortgaged bay horse, calfs and all the cotton and corn they raised in Searcy Co for the year 1895. They had a mortgage every year from Sept 1890, mortgaging cattle and for all the cotton and corn raised.

ABREY JANE JONES:
Found Her first name spelled Sabrey, Sabre, Sabra. It is Mrs A.A. on Tombstone. Went by nickname Sarah. I am not sure which is the correct spelling of her first name.
Married 55 years in 1900. Had 11 children, 7 were living. Both parents born in Alabama according to 1910 census. Found Mrs. A.A. age 96 Died in 1919 Born 1823 in North Ark. Death records. Information from Mary Rice lists parents as William Jones (Al.) Phoebe Sheets (Ga). Census: 1860 &1870 Searcy Co. Ark (Big Flat Twp) - 1880 Searcy Co. (Beaver Twp) 1900 Searcy Co. Spring Twp. 1858 Tax roll of Searcy Co.
Cemetery: Visited Silver Hill in June 1995 and took picture of Tombstone. State of Arkansas has no death certificate on file. Stones were made by grandson.
Story by Lida Maze states: Sarah Jane Jones (Holt) was 10 years old when the stars fell in Alabama in 1833. when She was 13 years old she came with her parents to the White River Region in Ark (later called the Ole Cherokee Settlers Village. She migrated from there west to Big Cedar Creek in Searcy Co Ark. She was 22 years old when she married Amos Ammon Holt He was 20 years old. They worked at a Grist-mill and farmed. They had 10 children. Amos lived 88 years and Sarah 96 years. Buried at Silver hill Cemetery 5 miles from Gilbert on the Buffalo River. Sarah Jane was Cherokee Indian & German. Amos's mother was German, his Father may have been Indian or part Indian. My mother knew little about her fathers side
