As a young boy that loved Indian Lore and the outdoors, I recall after playing in the woods at our cabin in northern MI asking my mother "what kind of blood do we have?" She replied with several nationalities and the last one she said was "Cherokee". At the time I didn't know what that was and upon asking and finding out that it was a Native American tribe, I became intrigued and very interested in searching my ancestry to determine how much Indian blood I had in me. As far as I was concerned the more the merrier. This was the beginning of my journey into my past ancestry. I have since come a long ways in my research but it surely is a never ending hobby. My most recent endeavor has been to test both my MtDNA and Y-DNA. I now know I am Haplogroup Q on the Y-DNA side and Haplogroup T1 on my MtDNA. I am currently awaiting the results of my Y-STR results from FTDNA. Y-DNA is passed down from father to son and MtDNA (Mitochondrial DNA) is passed from Mothers to their children only.
