Notes for JERRY LEE HARTLEY:
Jerry and his wife met at a factory in Waukesha where they both worked and they went on their first date in 1967. They were married four months later and had two sons and a daughter. They split up August 12, 1987 because of Jerry's excessive drinking and his refusal to get help. He had been with the company seven years.
Jerry had three roses in his hand and he was crying when he came to see his wife during her lunch hour Tuesday, September 22, 1987. He and Caroline sat in his car and split a soda and he told her again what he had been saying for two weeks. "He said he loved me and the kids very much and he was going to die." "He said he was in pain and did not like it that they were living apart and he gave her the roses. About 10 minutes later, he broke out in a sweat and appeared to be having a seizure. His wife ran into the apartment building to call a rescue squad and when she returned she found him slumped against the car window. He was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital where attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at 1:22 P.M.
Jerry had been having chest pains and he had a family history of early heart deaths. His brother died of a heart attack when he was 35 and his mother has had several heart attacks.
