      Ezekiel Piper, born Dec. 27,1795, in Hampden, Me.; a farmer; married Ann Roberts, born July 17,1797, in Bucks County, Pa. She died February. 6,1871, in Hollowayville, Ill. He died Dec. 30,1875, in Malden, Ill. After the death of his wife he removed to Malden. He was a successful farmer. He settled in Bureau County in Sept. 1836.
            From HISTORY OF BUREAU COUNTY;
      Ezekiel Piper came in 1836; he was born in Maine, December 27, 1795, died December 31, 1875. He married Ann Roberts, of Bucks County, Penn. The family came to Illinois in wagons across the country,and settled in Leeper Township, where they lived two years and moved to Selby. The had seven children, five of whom are now living. An industrious, frugal farmer, who filled the complete measure of his earthly ambition in providing and rearing a respectable family.
      In 1850 the Whigs(a member of a political party in England, 18th Century to Middle 19th century, which championed popular rights; it later became the liberal party in the American Revolution, a person who apposed Great Britian and supported the Revolution.) were the masters in Bureau County. They stood with a bold front in every contest with the factions that constituted the opposition. The Whig County Central Committee consisted of: Oliver Boyle, Amos Fisher, Ashel Lomax, Alpheus Cook and S.A. Paddock; and the prominent workers through the county were: W.B. Whipple, Milo: James M. Dexter, Indiantown; George M. Radcliffe, Arispe; Jonathan Ireland, Leeper; Amos Whittimore, Concord; James Hambrick, Center; John L. Ament, Princeton; Ezekiel Piper, Selby; Jesse Wixham, Hall; Ezekiel Thomas, Buriar; Increase Hoyt, Dover; H.J. Stacy, Berlin; Wicher Dow, Fairfield; Daniel Hill, Greenville; Tracy Reeve, :Amoille, S. Allen Paddock was their editor, "The Yeoman of the Prairie Land."

OBITUARY;
      Ezekiel Piper born at Hampton Corners near Bungor, Maine where he lived until 18, when he went to Philadelphia then to Cincinnati and then to Bureau County in September 1836. Located Two miles SO of Trenton. Afterwards he kept a hotel in Hollowayville. For sometime he has made his home with his son Hiram. Died at age 80 years 3 days. Funeral January 1 at home of his son, Rev. J.W. Elser officiating. Buried in Longs Cemetery, east of Hollowayville.
