      George Ernest Piper, born June 22, 1859, in Newburgh, Me.; died May 16, 1866, in Bradley, Me. He and his sister, Sarah Frances, both died the same day. The little innocents wandered from their home unnoticed, their mother being sick abed that day, to the bank of the Penobscot river, which was near by-perhaps to gather flowers at the water's edge, or to dabble in the stread-and both fell in and were drowned. Whether the younger fell in first, and the other attempted to rescue him or both fell in together, is unkown, for one saw them when they went to the river, nor when they drowned.
