      Wyman Brown Piper, born December 14, 1854, in Monroe, Me.; a teacher. He commenced teaching in 1871, at the age of fifteen, and has taught every year since. He graduated at the Maine Central Institute, and afterward entered Bates College where he remained for some time. He was Principal of Corinna Union Academy for four years, till 1882, and has recently been elected Principal of Lodi High School at Lodi, Cal. While at Corinna he was a member of the superintending school committee three years and Captain of Corinna Light Infantry. He married Annie Cole Russell, daughter of Eli and Hannah (Spofford) Russell, February 25, 1877. She was born August 20, 1855, in Monticello, Me. He resides in Lodi, Cal.

      Warren Franklin Bickford, born January 31, 1842 in Newburgh, Me.; graduated from Bowdoin College in 1872; taught school six months and then commenced preaching in February., 1873. In Sept., 1874, he entered the Theological Seminary at Bangor, Me., and graduated in June 1876; was installed pastor of the Congregational Church at Winthrop, Me., June 20,1876, and remained there four years. He resigned in August, 1880, to accept a position in Colorado, under the American Home Missionary Society, where he labored successfully at Breckenridge and Manitou Springs five years. In Sept., 1885, he went to California and became pastor of Park Church, at Berkeley. He married Sarah Wilder, August 15, 1872, daughter of Deacon Horace and Caroline (Jennison) Wilder, of Dixmont, Me. She was born November 8, 1844, in Dixmont, and a teacher before marriage.

OHN WESLEY PIPER:
      John Wesley Piper, born October 4, 1839, in Parsonsfield, Me.; a farmer and teacher. He has taught successfully in his own State, Illinois, and Virginia, making in all about eight full school years. He was sent to Virginia as missionary teacher of the freedmen, by the Freewill Baptist Home Missionary Society, in connection with the American Missionary Board, receiving his commission from both societies. He began his work at Staunton, and had charge of over four hundred scholars, being assisted by several female teachers. The people were bitterly opposed to the teachers, but by his judicious management he gained the confidence of some of them, and was invited to dine with one; and another, a very wealthy man, desired him to give instruction to his son, which he did, giving him two private lessons each week. He has given considerable attention to music, and been organist for the Freewill Baptist Church, on the South Road in Parsonsfield, twenty-eight years, and chorister nine. He married Ellen Adelaide Manson, daughter of George and Emiline (Meads) Manson, January 1, 1867. she was born April 7, 1845, in Limington, Me.; a teacher before marriage. He resides in Parsonsfield, on the South Road, on the farm formerly owned by Jonathan Piper.

      Horace Lord Piper, born July 14, 1841, in Limerick, Me. He was one year in Bowdoin College; Lieutenant in the Union Army in the war of the Rebellion; was in the battle of Baylor's Farm, Va.; of Petersburg, June 15 and16 and July 18, 1864, and of the Explosion of the Mine, besides several minor engagement. He received a medal from Congress for meritorious services in the war, and was brevetted Major; graduated at the Law School of Columbian University, receiving the degree of LL.B.; and was admitted to the bar in Washington, D.C. He was also one of the Commissioners appointed by the United States Government to visit European ports in order to ascertain the treatment of emigrants to this country on board of steamboats, with the view of modifying the laws of emigration, if necessary. He married Tryphena Stuart Gove, daughter of Alvan Chadbourne and Mary Susan (Edgerly) Gove, October 18, 1862, born June 11, 1843, in Liminton, Me. He resides in Washinton, D.C.

ARY JOSEPHINE PIPER:
      Mary Josephine Piper, born January 25, 1843, in Limerick, Me.; married Oren Hooper, December 7, 1864, son of Noah and Mary (Foss) Hooper, born December 10, 1840, in Biddeford, Me.; a merchant. He commenced business in Limerick, and subsequently remove to Portland, Me., where he now resides and is carrying on an extensive business in trade. She was a kind daughter and an affectionate wife. Although surrounded with everything to make her happy, she was not permitted to enjoy it long. She died at an early age of 26. Of pleasing manners and a gentle spirit, she endeared herself to all, and left precious memories to her surviving friends. She united with the Second Congregational Church of Biddeford several years before her death.

  Notes for FRANK SHERMAN PIPER:
Educators throughout the State of Maine and citizens who have had reason to note the work among the students of Frank Sherman Piper, principle of Parsonsfield Seminary since 1923, accord him a high position as an instructor and citizen. Strenuous though his school duties are, he has been able to avail himself of the citizens's privilege of taking an active interest in the operations of government and in all matters that tend to advance the welfare of the whole people. This interest and activity have brought to him the added work of administering public office, of which he had availed himself to the credit of the community and himself.
      Frank Sherman Piper was born at North Parsonsfield, Maine July 3, 1884, a son of Sherman E. and Minnie C. (Black) Piper. He was educated in the public schools in Parsonsfield and at Parsonsfield Seminary, afterward taking the course at Bowdoin College, from which he was graduated in 1907 with the degree of Bachelor of Arts. His first business was lumber, in which he remained until 1921, when he engaged as a teacher for two years, at the end of which period he became principal of Parsonfield Seminary, a post he still holds. He was a member of the School Commission from 1916 to 1920 and chairman of the Board of Health from 1918 to 1920. Since 1916 he has been a member of the executive committee of Parsonsfield Seminary. He is a Republican in politics and from 1923 to 1925 was a member of the Town committee. His college fraternity is Delta Upsilon. Hes residence is at Kezar Falls, Maine.
      Mr. Piper married at Gray, Maine June 26, 1926 to Frances L. Cushing.
