      Piper is Irish Scotch. It is believed that Charles left his wife and five children and went to live in Kansas with the maid and started a new family there. After he left Warren Jay, Sidney, and Perry went to live with their grandfather to be raised and Charles Eugene, and Lyle stayed with their mother Clara to be raised.

Bertrand Piper, 81, Passes Away Tuesday Evening

Bertrand Richard Piper, 81, passes away at Kewanne Public hospital Tuesday evening. Word has been received that Master Sergeant Cecil Piper is returning from Japan, and his arrival, funeral serves will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Dunlap Funeral home with Rev. Arnold Olsen officiating. Friends may call at the Dunlap Funeral home after 2:00 PM Friday. Burial will be in Milo Mound cemetery.
He was born in Hall Township near Seatonville, on March 7, 1879, the son of Ezekial and Mary Harris Piper. On January 16, 1908, he was united in marriage with Lydia A. Hankins in Milo township. She passed away in February 1930. On December 23, 1933 he was married to Nettie Oxbenberger at Toulon. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Nettie; a daughter Mrs. Clarence Larson, of Bradford; four sons; Elmo of Iowa City; Master Sergeant Cecil Piper in Japan; Howard of Bradford, and Captain Eugene Piper of Springfield; 12 grandchildren; one brother Will, of Bradford,, and one sister, Mrs Alva Brokaw, of Tiskilwa.

Mrs Bert Piper
Lydian Ann Hankins was born near Halls Ride, Jefferson County, Indiana, January 27, 1884, and departed this life February 10, 1930, at her home on the farm, nine miles northeast of Bradford, aged 46 years, and 14 days. Her early life was spent in Indiana, coming to Illinois in 1903. She united with the Methodist church at the age of 14, and has lived a beautiful Christain life. She was united in marriage to Bert Piper, at Whitefiled, Illinois by Rev. Dunlavy. Five children were born to this union, Alvah, Elmo, Cecil, Howard and Eugene, all at home.
After coming to Illinois, she united with the Methodist church at Whitefield, later transferring her membership to the Boyd's Grove church, which she has always loved and attended when possible. she leaves to mourn her death the bereaved husband, one daughter, four sons, two sister, Mrs. Frank Doty, of Milo, and Mrs Floyd Overshiner of Indiana, besides four brothers, Joseph, Elijah, Levi and Bert at their home in Indiana, in addition to a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The funeral was held at Boyd's Grove B. E. church Wednesday afternoon, in charge of Rev. T.J.M. Crapp. Burial was in the Mound Cemetery.

Mrs. Piper Dies, Funeral Wednesday

Mrs. Bert Piper, 86, died Sunday, October 29, 1972, at a Peoria Hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 1, 1972, at 1:30 P.M. in the Dunlap Funeral Home with the Rev. Lauren Gerber officiating. Interment will be in Bradford Cemetery. She was born in Bradford April 16, 1886, the daughter of Christopher and Jane Dixon Oxbarger. She married Ed Peterson in November 1902 and he preceded her in death in 1930. She later married Bert Piper and he also preceded her in death. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Jennie Howard of Bradford; she was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Services for Mrs. Pier
Funeral services for Mrs. Bert (Nettie) Pier, 86, who died October 29, 1972 at a Peoria hospital, were held Wednesday at 1:30 P.M. in the Dunlap Funeral Home. The Rev. Lauren Gerber officiated, and Mrs Robert Dunlap served as organist. Pallbearers were Clarence Larson, Otto Ringenberg, James Spurgeon, John Scott, Eugene Piper and Willard Piper. Interment was in Bradford Cemetery.
