      Jay Piper, seven years of age, son of Charles Piper, of Malden, scrabbled with another boy for a giant firecracker at the Malden celebration, Saturday. The Piper boy succeeded in capturing the missile. It was bad for the boy, as it exploded in his hand, lacerating it severely. Dr. Wickersham, the attending surgeon, thinks the hand can be saved intact. The giant firecracker is anything but a plaything and its use as such should be prohibited. Article in Princeton paper.

OBITUARY;      RITES ON SATURDAY FOR MRS. PIPER 71
     
      Funeral services for Mrs. Warren Jay Piper, 71, were held at 2 P.M. Saturday at Norberg Memorial home with the Rev. Thomas Dyer, Kaneville Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in Malden cemetery.
      Mrs. Piper died Wednesday, May 20, at Perry Memorial hospital.
      The former Mary Ruth Hensel was born March 22, 1888, in Dover, the daughter of Harvey E. and Jennie Hoyt Hensel. She was united in marriage on Oct. 1, 1908, in Michigan to Warren Jay Piper. Their home was in Malden. She was a member of the Malden Methodist church.
      Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Berniece Nord, Malden; five sons, Forrest J., Troy; Verle, Princeton; Delbert, Chamblee, Ga.,; Orville and Wilmur, both of Princeton.
      Alson surviving are 17 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Hallie Berg. Princeton, and two brothers Ivan Hensel, Princeton and Ralph Hensel, Peoria. She was preceded by her parents, three brothers, Raymond, Warren, and Roy Hensel and one sister Grace Dutro.

      Sidney is believed to have been a farmer in Bureau county. His first marriage was with Margret Davis having four children with her. Their names are Bruce, Lucian, Barbra, Dee. After having these children Sidney left his wife and children and went to live in Kansas meeting his 2nd wife Ione Smith, their marriage date is Sept. 27, 1926. After they were married it appeared that Ione was unable to have children. Living down the street from them was a family that had many children and they were unable to care for them properly, so Sidney and Ione adopted two of the children; Richard Lee, and Judith Eileen. Several years after the adoptions Ione gave birth to two children of her own; Robert Clair and Elizabeth Ann.

      MARGRET E. PIPER DIES IN HOSPITAL
            Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Piper, 62, were held at 2 P.M. Sunday at Hudson Funeral home with the Rev. Earl J. Short officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.
      Mrs. Piper died Friday in Perry Memorial hospital following a lingering illness.
      The former Margaret Davis was born June 21, 1894, in Princeton the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lucian Davis. Her home in Princeton was located at 225 North Main street.
      Survivors include four children, Davis Woodstock, Va.; Mrs Milford (Barbra) Jontz, Princeton; Lucian R. and Bruce B. both of Princeton. Also surviving are six grandchildren.
      She was proceeded in death by her parents.
