In 1904 they moved to Morinville, AB and resided there until 1908. They moved to St. Albert, AB where Alcide was the Manager of the St. Albert Flour Mill. Later he owned a Meat Market. While in St. Albert he became the first Secretary Treasurer of the town and was also a School Trustee. In 1914, Chevigny Brothers who owned and operated the Chevigny Bros. General Store in Plamondon, hired Alcide as the store manager. The newly formed Plamondon School District 2696 needed a teacher so Adeline was hired as the first qualified teacher (there were a couple of unqualified teachers previouly). On Aug. 6, 1914, the family left St. Albert by train to Athabasca Landing. From there they went by covered wagon on the two day trip to Plamondon. When the store closed in 1923 they moved to a homestead 3 miles south of Plamondon where Alcide farmed and Adeline taught at the nearby Berny School. Adeline died in 1926. Alcide traded the farm for a grocery store in Plamondon in 1929. He also became the village Postmaster and Telephone Operator, all located in his store. He resided in the upper level of the store. He sold his store in the fall of 1943 and retired at that time. He lived with his son Roland & Zea from the spring of 1944 until until 1958 when he moved to his son Jean & Della who lived in Morinville at the time. Built snowshoe like pads for his horses feet to allow them to work in bogs / around lakes / in muskegs. Then worked several years as a car saleman for L. H. Tremblay of Morinville, AB (Jean Tremblay's brother, Jean is his brother in law. Joined the Canadian Army in 1940 until 1945. Spent the war training soldiers because health problems did not allow him to go overseas. Married Feb. 17, 1947 and started a mink ranch. After 2 years he sold it and built an automotive garageand body shop in Plamondon. He was also had the district John Deere agency. Traded this business in 1953 for a large farm at Donnelly in the Peace River Area of Alberta. Where they farmed for 2 years. Sold the farm and bought a lakeside property about 7 km East of Plamondon. He set up a subdivison known as Bayview Beach and sold many lots. Formed the Pelican Hotel Co. in 1957. Constructed the hotel and operated it until 1968 when his health problems (ephysema) forced him to retire. Retired in Kelowna where he worked part time for the BC Corps of Commissionaires. Moved back to Alberta in the early 1980's and died in Edmonton. After arriving in Vancouver they moved north to the Prince George area and established a farm in the forest area at Willow River some 40 km East of Prince George. She completed High School in Prince George and then moved to Edmonton where she enrolled in the Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated in 1931, winning the General Profiency Gold Medal. She then attended Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal where she graduated in 1934 with a post graduate degree in Obstetrics. Moved back to Edmonton where she worked at the Misericordia Hospital. She also worked a year at the Seton Hospital in Jasper AB. In 1939 she became the Provincial Public Health Nurse in Plamondon where she worked for over 20 years. As of Sept. 05, 2000, she resides in the Auxilliary Hospital in Lac La Biche. Unfortunately she lost her hearing several years ago so communicating with her is difficult. Fell and broke her arm and shoulder in March 2002. Died on April 9, 2002 from complications.
