Marriage: March 19, 1953 in Jackson Mo. to Mary Francis Smith, daughter of Elvis Ernest Smith and Ellen Irene Pool. Charles was first introduced to Mary by Mary's friend Mary Jordan (Nicknamed "Nooge") during a visit to Mary's home in Elco Illinois. 6 children: Charles Edward Jr.(And stillborn Twin "Baby Pitts"), Charlotte Ann, Joyce Elain, Wiley Jay and David B.
First Childhood memories: Looking out a window waiting for Father to come home. Playing in a Corn Crib at Thornton Clarks farm. (Thornton Clark was a Minister who performed the wedding ceremony for Charles parents) Childhood Friends: Cousin Thomas "Buck" Pitts, Gordon Noble and Jimmy Mueller. Graduated from Mounds High school in 1947.
Places Charles has lived: Born and raised in Anna Illinois until the spring before entering 8th grade when he moved to Olive Branch Illinois where his Junior High school years were spent. Moved to Mounds Illinois about 1942/43. Lived in Japan during the Korean war in 1952/53. Moved to Madison Illinois in June of 1953 and then Granite City Illinois in 1954, followed by Pontoon Beach Illinois about 1961/62.
