Sarah Melvina Reedy (daughter of Samuel Gideon Reedy and Aninia Francis Tripp) was born April 10, 1883 in Big Creek . Near Mill creek / Elco / Dongola IL., and died October 12, 1950 in Car accident on RT 3 near Olive Branch Il.. She married (1) John Poole on December 25, 1901 in Alexander Co. Il., son of Michael Monroe Poole and Christine Price. She married (2) Elijah Burnett on Abt. 1920 in Alexander Co. Illinois. She married (3) Raymond Stone on Abt. 1941.

Three persons were killed and three hurt in a collision between a car and a truck on Route 3 between Thebes and Olive Branch. The dead are Mrs. Sarah Melvina Stone, 68, of Elco and Charles Gregory, 47 and his step-son, Wayne Poole, 14, both of Ullin. All were in Gregory's car. Injured were Mrs. Eve Gregory, wife of Charles Gregory, and Kenneth Poole, also in the car, and Mrs. John W. Keeton of Jackson TN., a passenger in the truck. Mrs. Gregory is the Mother of the Poole boys by a previous marriage. Funeral services for Mrs. Stone were held Sunday in the Pentecostal church in Elco, conducted by Rev. John Kelly and Rev. William Robinson, and interment was in the St. John's cemetery. Surviving are two sons, Gene Poole and John Barnett, both of Madison, IL., and four daughters, Mrs. Ellen Smith of Elco, Mrs. Bertha Bryant of West Point, Miss., Mrs. Jewell Thompson of Madison IL., and Mrs. Violet Draper of Buncombe; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and a brother, (Step-Brother) Mike Poole of Tamms. Elmer J. Ford directed the funeral.
The memorial guest book that many family members and friends signed their names in at the funeral of Sarah Melvina Reedy (Pool) (Burnett) (Stone) records that the officiating ministers were Rev. John Kelly and Rev. Bill Robertson. The music selection were "An Empty mansion", "He'll understand and say well done" and "Where we'll never grow old". The songs were sang by The Ford Funeral Home Quartet, Don Corzine, bill Needham, Dell Boyd, Blance Plott. The pianist was Irene Dillow.
A biography is found in the memorial book that was written by the daughter of Sarah Melvina Reedy, Mrs. Ellen Irene (Pool) Smith, wife of Elvis Ernest Smith. As a young girl, Vina Reedy was born and raised in and around Big Creek. She married John Pool and lived around Cooper Creek. He was taken ill and died of influenza in the year 1918. She then worked hard to keep her children going. There were two boys and three girls born to this union. Later, she met and married Elijah Burnett. Two children were born to them. She had a hard time of work and toiled hard for many years to make a home for the children. We all loved her very much and hope with all our hearts to meet her in heaven.
