Includes NotesNotes for Silas Walker Elkins:
Memories of Silas Walker Elkins from his Granddaughter Violet Pearl Pitts. After me and Wiley got married Grandpa Elkins took us in. He seemed glad to have us. I had a little old Victrola that I bought from Sam Brim for three dollars. We would play songs like Golden Slippers and Grandpa would hit the back step for us. Wiley would do the shimmy for Grandma and she would laugh so hard until she wet on herself. I had such sweet Grandparents. To this day when I hear Golden Slippers I cant help but see Grandpa Elkins dancing in my mind.

Grandpa and Wiley used to go frog hunting. After they killed a good mess of frogs Grandma (Lillie Vesta West second wife of Silas) would cook them and they would almost jump out of the skillet. So Grandma wouldn't eat them. Grandpa Elkins and Wiley loved to hunt together. They would wander all over the hill and hollows. One time when they went on a hunt they thought they was following they're dog on the scent of some game. They followed for hours. But when they got home that dog was still laying on the porch looking at them like they was idiots. He had never left.
